Byron Hurt to visit Eastern Connecticut State University
Willimantic, CT – Award-winning documentary filmmaker Byron Hurt will speak at
Eastern Connecticut State University’s University Hour Series from 3 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 28 in the
Betty R. Tipton Room of the Student Center. The public is invited. Admission is free.
Hurt’s presentation, “First or Last Man Standing, Please,” seeks to broaden how the
public thinks about race and gender by facilitating a discussion about what men can do to help
end gender-based violence, and the role men play in what many misinterpret to be women’s
Hurt is a published writer and a self-described anti-sexist educator. His most recent
documentary, “Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes,” has been selected to appear in more than
50 film festivals worldwide.
