All Singers Invited to Perform with new Community Choir and Willimantic Orchestra-Info Meeting
January 19 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
We are inviting all singers in the community to participate in a special event this spring in northeastern CT. We know you are busy, but this opportunity allows you to participate in a choir without a weekly commitment. We have created a special community choir to sing with the Willimantic Orchestra at the beautiful concert hall at the Fine Arts Instructional Center at Eastern Connecticut State University. We will be singing the fourth movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with professional soloists and Runestad’s “Climb” on the evening of Saturday, May 9, 2020.
Here are the basic details:
1. Learn your part primarily on your own time schedule: Singers will be expected to do the majority of learning the parts at home. We have set up a special webpage with numerous learning resources, both visual and listening, to aid in this process.
2. Group rehearsals: We are offering a number of group rehearsals and are asking singers to attend as many rehearsals as they feel they need to feel confident to perform these songs (some many only need a couple where others might want to attend all.) These rehearsals will be focused on vocal technique and musicianship.
3. Cost: The cost to participate is only $15, which mainly covers the cost for the music scores*
4. When: The first information meeting and rehearsal is this Sunday, January 19 from 3:00-4:30pm. If you cannot make this one, the next opportunity will be on Wednesday, February 19 from 7:00-8:30pm. Rehearsals are listed here and will be held in Mansfield.
*If this cost would prohibit your participation, we also can offer fee waivers for those singers in need.
