My paintings are based on my response to the landscape. The imagery has been about my surroundings in rural northeastern Connecticut. I am attracted to working farms. I feel a sort of kinship with the people who farm and their daily rituals. Also, I appreciate the architecture, equipment, fields, and animals. This narrative inclination goes back to my youth in North Carolina.
I’m a retired freelance illustrator, graphic designer and cartoonist with over 60 years of national commercial experience. I teach watercolor workshops every Tuesday at 9:am and 12:pm in my home. ARTIQUE where all ages can create art! We believe that everyone is an artist that anyone can paint, draw and create art. It is our mission to help you find that inner artist, the one that is buried by life and responsibilities. Try it, see how it feels and leave with a feeling of “what else can I do”?
ARTIQUE now offers studio art classes for all ages beginning at age 3 with our Mommy/Daddy & Me Creative Playtime workshops, to after school and summer arts enrichment classes and workshops for kids, teens and adults! We of course also offer painting for fun events with step by step instruction on Friday and Saturday Nights as a great night out with friends. Last year ARTIQUE also launched a new venture of painting with your pets! PAWTIQUE, offers the opportunity for owners and pets to paint a beautiful painting together! Look for events in the area or make a private appointment with your pet!
ARTIQUE studio began in 2012 as a “paint bar” style studio, and two moves later has grown into a full art studio with classes for all levels and abilities. We offer small class sizes in drawing, watercolor, sculpture, cartooning, mixed media art, and more. Artique is excited to continue to add classes in other mediums in the future!
Our classes are small, we offer individual attention where people can work at their own pace and comfort level. Creating Art is not just about the product, but it is the process of creating that reaches beyond the paper and canvas. When you are creative it reaches a part of you that go far beyond the moment. Creative thinking can have an impact on your life in so many ways!

We make Lifelike Pet Portraits from your photos. The animal companions with whom we share our lives can mean the world to us. An original, hand painted portrait is a beautiful way to celebrate a cherished pet or remember those we have lost, and the pet portraits can make special gifts for friends and family to treasure always.
Connecticut artist Jane Collins paints in a fluid, painterly style. Collins’ bright paintings in oil and watercolor reflect her of all things rural: woodlands, gardens, farms, flowers and birds.
At the UCONN School of Fine Arts, Collins studied drawing, design, oil painting and watercolor. Subsequent oil painting workshops with working artists Foster Caddell, David Lussier and Shauna Shane have further refined her skills and influenced her style.
Collins’ work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections. ten of her barn paintings are in the permanent collection of Eastern Connecticut State University, in Willimantic, Connecticut.
Collins’ work is frequently available at the Lyme Art Association Gallery in Old Lyme, Connecticut.

Maggie Kendis is a printmaker, who works primarily in linoleum cut prints. Each piece is printed onto rice paper, then scanned to a heavier
stock paper and hand colored with watercolor. Her pieces are mainly of animals, birds, of nature and vignettes of life around her. After being asked to create custom pet portraits for friends, a new line began. Custom pet portraits began as just that, printed and framed works. But from there, pieces developed into cards, earrings, pins and pendants. The working with mixed media, then lead to a line of prints mounted and embellished on wooden pieces reminiscent of Mexican retablos. These were little paintings on tin and wood, hung in the houses of people honoring their saints.
Since people love their pets, it became another
