Two special concerts will be taking place in the Concert Hall of Eastern Connecticut State University’s new Fine Arts Instructional Center this weekend. On Saturday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m., the Eastern Concert Chorale will be joined by the Chamber Singers and the Men’s and Women’s Choirs for an afternoon of choral works, including a new arrangement of Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms” for two pianos and percussion. Music Professors Emily Riggs and David Belles will be conducting the performance. Anyone interested in hearing more about Stravinsky and “Symphony of Psalms” can come early to hear Professor Timothy Cochran give a pre-concert talk on the subject at 1:45 p.m.
On Sunday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m., various Eastern chamber ensembles, including the Korean Samul Ensemble, the String Trio and the Woodwind and Brass Ensembles, will hold a spring recital.
Admission is free for both events, but donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
