New London resident Ewa Grochowska will be visiting Eastern Connecticut State University to speak about how the power of artistic expression helped her transition from a victim of domestic abuse to a survivor. This event will take place in the Student Center Theater on Oct. 14 from 3-4 p.m. Specializing in pottery, Grochowska will show students how they can transform the pain they’ve dealt with into beautiful pieces of art.
Grochowska now supports victims of domestic abuse by providing art supplies and a means to process emotions and experiences through art. This experience can be especially powerful for children, since their art is often one of the few things they have control over. By giving victims the tools to heal, she hopes that they can stop being victims and start being survivors.
