Willimantic, CT – May 19, 2013 – The Windham No Freeze Project is holding its 2nd annual Community Campout at Lauter Park, 625 Jackson St., Willimantic from Saturday, June 22 – 23, 2013. Enjoy one of the most beautiful vacation spots in the area starting Saturday at 11am with the Covenant Soup Kitchen’s Strawberry Festival featuring homemade shortcake, live music for the family, face painting, vendors and prizes! Bring your family and friends and explore the rest of the park and swim in the Natchaug River, let the kids play in the Splash Park, watch the BMX demonstration sponsored by Burns BMX, register for the Skate contest sponsored by The Skate Shop in Wilimantic, visit WAIM’s Community Garden, play some basketball or just relax by the water. For dinner, bring your own food or enjoy delicious fare from Yellow Rose BBQ and Tacos La Rosa. You bring instruments or your favorite story and we will bring the marshmallows for a good old fashioned camp fire at 8:30pm! Sunday morning starts with a pancake breakfast sponsored by CLiCK (free for campers, $6 for non-campers). Camp site reservations are a $30 donation per site (set up begins at 11:00am Saturday). All proceeds from the Community Campout benefit the Windham Region No Freeze Project, an emergency shelter whose mission is to make sure that no-one is left out in the cold.
