The State of Connecticut, Department of Economic and Community Development invites applications for the position of Program Associate 1, Connecticut Office of the Arts. This position is full time and located at the State Office buildings in Hartford. This position reports to the Director of Arts, Preservation & Museums and serves as an active member of a robust staff dedicated to ensuring that the arts touch the lives of every state resident. The Connecticut Office of the Arts uses the lens of READI: Relevance, Equity, Access, Diversity and Inclusion, as a strategy screen to evaluate its programs and services, and is committed to using the arts to address social injustice and empower all people. The successful candidate must have experience working in programs and/or with audiences or clients that reflect the full diversity of people within the state. The Program Associate 1 will be responsible for the care and development of the Office of the Arts READI Talks and Conferences, Arts Workforce Initiative Program, and Poetry Out Loud. In addition, the position will work with state and external colleagues to develop and implement new strategies that will identify and serve under resourced audiences. The successful candidate will be familiar with regional and national trends in arts funding and DEI, will assist with tracking and reporting activities associated with grant-making, including special initiatives and programs, will track and maintain program specific impact and goals, will serve as a liaison to internal and external partners to plan and implement events and initiatives, will work as a team member to coordinate all aspects of meetings, conventions and events, and will participate in special projects and activities as necessary to fulfill the mission of the Office of the Arts.
