Calling all goblins, ghouls, and ghosts! The Mansfield Downtown Partnership invites children to trick-or-treat in Downtown Storrs on Saturday, October 26 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Trick-or-Treat will be rain or shine. All children should be accompanied by an adult.
Children are invited to dress in their Halloween best and look for “Trick or Treat” signs in the windows of participating businesses. This year’s event will kick off with a special performance by the E. O. Smith Drumline on Betsy Paterson Square at 3:00 PM.
Start the spooky fun early at the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry! They will host two performances of The Three Little Pigs by Crabgrass Puppet Theatre at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Show attendees are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes and participate in a post-performance Halloween parade in the theater! For tickets and more information, please visit bimp.uconn.edu.
New this year, children can get an up-close look at a fire truck, police car, and more! The Mansfield Fire Department, Mansfield Department of Public Works, and Mansfield Resident State Troopers Office will have vehicles on display around Downtown Storrs. Stop by, say hello, and learn about their important work. (This portion of the event is weather permitting).
At 4:00 PM, look out for a “thriller” of a surprise on Betsy Paterson Square courtesy of Mansfield Academy of Dance!
At 5:00 PM, children and their adult(s) are encouraged to walk over to the Mansfield Community Center to continue the fun at the Annual Halloween Party and Trick-a-Trunk. Festivities at the Community Center are free and open to all ages (recommended for children age 10 and under) and will continue until 6:30 PM.
Parking in the Downtown Storrs Parking Garage is free for the first two hours and $1 per hour thereafter, with a daily maximum charge of $8. Parking is also available at the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building (Town Hall) (4 S. Eagleville Road) and Mansfield Community Center (10 S. Eagleville Road). Both lots are accessed via South Eagleville Road.
