At The Complex ALL students experience a supportive environment and exceptional training. Students of The Complex build a strong sense of self and confidence. Students receive the highest level of training by a professional faculty of educators/artists. The Complex is a forum for children, teens, and adults to learn, grow, create, and flourish.
The Complex Performing and Creative Arts Centre was Established in 2005 by Nichola Johnson and in 2011, Julie Watt join as Co-Director. Nichola Johnson and Julie Watt bring a life-time love of the arts to The Complex Communities. Johnson and Watt both hold Masters of Fine Arts Degrees in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and are college professors in their respective arts field. The mission of The Complex is to offer the highest level of arts education to the community, create an innovative hub for performance and education, open a space for students to grow and flourish through creative critical thinking and ignite a life-time love of the arts for all students. The Complex is not only a place of excellence in technical arts education, it is a place where students evolve year after year; they learn the importance of collaboration, strong work-ethic, dedication and persistence, self-actualization, self-discipline, creative problem solving, and critical thought.
In August of 2018, The Complex experienced another magnificent milestone! A new Artistic Director was born! Alexandra Plucenik, a long-time student, alumni and faculty member of The Complex has taken over as Artistic Director and will continue to lead The Complex on its journey! Nichola Johnson and Julie Watt couldn’t be more proud to pass the torch to Alexandra and watch someone who grew up at The Complex, now lead. You will still find Johnson in the classroom and on the stage at The Complex and both, Johnson and Watt, serving on the creative and production teams for various Complex Projects. Congratulations to our new Director!!
