Join us for an intriguing conversation about Ellen Emmet Rand and portraiture

Nov 17, 2018 by WindhamAreaArts

Join Alexis Boylan in conversation with William Harris about collecting Ellen Emmet Rand paintings, his love of portraiture, and connections between Rand and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

William Harris has spent almost thirty years in the archival profession at the state and national level; the majority with the Presidential Library System operated by the National Archives. He served as a founding archivist of the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library, as a senior director in the Office of Presidential Libraries, and currently as the Deputy Director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library.

Alexis Boylan is Guest Curator of The Business of Bodies: Ellen Emmet Rand (1875-1941) and the Persuasion of Portraiture currently on view at the Benton Museum. She is an Associate Professor at UConn’s Art and Art History Department and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, and Associate Director of the Humanities Institute.

Free.

Limited seating.  RSVP recommended.
