The Windham Theatre Guild proudly presents an extraordinary theatrical event as its final Main Stage production of the season…To Kill A Mockingbird. Christopher Sergel’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel uses memorable characters to explore civil rights and racism in segregated Depression-era Mississippi in 1935. Told through the eyes of young Scout Finch, you learn about her father Atticus Finch, an attorney who hopelessly strives to prove the innocence of a black man unjustly accused of rape; and about Boo Radley, a mysterious neighbor who saves Scout and her brother Jem from being killed. WTG is proud to bring this classic of modern American literature to life on stage.
“To Kill a Mockingbird still is a provocative story and still relevant. Some things have changed in America but the small step made by Atticus Finch makes us aware how important it is to keep making progress to cross the racial divide that has been a storm cloud over this country for far too long.” – Susan Brall, DC Metro Theatre Arts.
Don’t miss this extraordinary and timely production under the direction of Jill (Luberto) Zarcone who also brought One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Miracle Worker to life at the Burton Leavitt Theatre. The cast of twenty plus features local performers of all ages including many newcomers to the WTG stage.
