Feb 19, 2016 by WindhamAreaArts

Willimantic, Conn. – The Willimantic Orchestra, a community-based musical ensemble, will present its free winter concert, “Songs and Dances,” on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC) at Eastern Connecticut State University. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. The entrance to the new FAIC is on High Street immediately north of the Administration Building. Parking is available at Eastern’s two parking garages on Charter Oak Road.  Directed by David Vaughan, “Songs and Dances” will feature soprano soloist Emily Riggs, professor of music at Eastern, who will sing “Hello Young Lovers”, “My Funny Valentine”; and Bellini’s “Qui la voce.” The concert will also include “Weber’s Overture to Der Freischutz,” “English Folk Song Suite” and “Blue Danube Waltzes.”   For additional information, visit www.willimanticorchestra.org or contact Vaughan at dhvaughan@charter.net.
