The Once In A Blue Moon Music Jam was a terrific success by everyone’s standards.
The weather as perfect. Not too hot, not muggy but warm enough to be dancing all night in sandals and bare feet to the wonderful sounds of blues music and a little classic rock. The evening started with Tuesday Saints and their magical performance. The Mighty Soul Drivers took over the stage and rocked the town. People were singing, dancing and just having fun. A special appearance by Christine Ohlman (who played with the Saturday Night Live Orchestra) made that performance outstanding.
The final band for the evening was the Johnny Winters Legacy Band with guest Lance Lopez from Texas. Their music lulled the blue moon out of hiding and got everyone on their feet. Even David Foster from Shaboo jumped up on stage and sang a tune.
The best part of the evening was the crowd, a group of 1200 Shaboo fans and blues lovers who were just really nice people, enjoying the evening, the music and each other.
Many thanks to our sponsors for the evening: The Foster Family Foundation, The Chamber of Commerce, Windham Region, Shaboo Productions, Capital Theatre and ACT, ECSU, Elizabeth’s Home Health Care, Columbia Ford, Chris the Gutter Guy, Landon Tire, Hampton Remodeling Company, Carboni Plumbing & Heating, Sound Idea and Request A Chef.
And additional thanks to all those volunteers who helped during the event and the Windham Police Department and Fire Marshall, Windham Public Works and Recreation Departments, the Town Council and Jim Bellano. We so appreciated the efforts of Windham Wine & Spirits in keeping all our beverages cold and pouring!
