The Connecticut State Department of Education (SDE) in partnership with the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), Connecticut Office of the Arts and the Connecticut Arts Council has posted a new grant opportunity designed to provide schools with the resources to strengthen their arts programming through meaningful partnerships with local and statewide arts organizations, institutions, and artists. As indicated in an August 19 press release the Office of the Arts’ nationally recognized Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools model, offers expertise in arts integration in schools. Applicant schools will be asked to identify their place on a scale of need for support with arts access, connection/correlation, or integration, as defined in the HOT Schools model, and applicants are encouraged to engage in HOT Schools professional development opportunities.
This grant provides a distinct opportunity for arts organizations and artists to develop, deepen or expand their relationships with partner schools and to advance arts programming and arts learning across the state in concert with school partners.
