Lebanon Art Gallery’s Second Art Exhibit

Aug 15, 2014 by WindhamAreaArts

Lebanon Art Gallery’s Second Art Exhibit runs August 1st -31st at 927 Trumbull Hwy (Rt. 87), just south of the Green and the Green Store in Lebanon, CT. A wide variety of media will again be included from jewelry, to paintings, photography, welding and woodturning to name a few.

During this August show, a new element of the gallery’s vision is to be implemented in the form of special activities by Lebanon artist Bill Dougal. Bill, of DougalArt, will bring a performance, a caricatures for all ages day, and a Fast Draw Fun Show. All will be held on Tuesdays during the month of August at the gallery.

New Hours:

Friday Noon to 6 PM
Saturday and Sunday 10-4 PM
Or by appointment. Call 860-642-4490 to arrange.

Specific DougalArt Activities at the Lebanon Art Gallery

COWBOY BILLY SHOW

Tues. Aug.5 11am. Comedy, songs and tall tales by a fun cowboy character. Hear Cowboy Billy’s
original songs, like “Cowboy Blues”, a poem, “Can’t Stand to Sit”, and a tall tale: “The Cowboy
and the Cowbee”. There will be a few jokes along the trail too. Humor wise, this way-out western
feller combines original wit with old country corn. Bill’s rustic voice brings the performances to
life, as evidenced on his CD, “Cowboy Billy Sings”. Kids who wish, can stay after the show to
video some sing-alongs and lines, for an upcoming video. Ideal age; Kids 4-10. $5

CARICATURES

Tues. Aug. 12 10-noon. Cartoon-Style portraits drawn on the spot. Any aged person can get a sketch
of their likeness in 5 minutes. Bill has 3 dozen years of experience as a professional caricaturist. In
1973 he received a BFA from the Hartford Art School. The National Caricaturist Network has given
him awards. His illustrations have been used for publication in Hartford Magazine, Hartford Courant,
and the Shoreline Book. He’s drawn live for clients like Aetna, Mohegan Sun, the Greater Hartford Arts
Council. He vends at fairs like Mystic, and Hebron. Mail-order gift caricatures by Bill & Dori Dougal
are sent all over the country. Priced $10-20 per person

FAST DRAW FUN SHOW

Tues Aug. 19 11am. Creativity with shapes! Bill draws things on a big easel and turns them into
other things. Audience members can guess what picture is coming, and also get creative with a
handout. Though this is a fun show, the basis is an important lesson: To draw anything, you start with a
basic shape, then adapt it. This unique show even has a song about art and colorful props. Ideal age; Kids 4-10+. $5
