Cast and Crew Preparing for August Performances
The Tony-award winning play Les Misérables comes to life when Broadway Live Productions and THOMASDORAN and company present the epic musical at the Hyde School Cultural Center in Woodstock, Connecticut for four benefit performances on August 1, 2, & 3, 2014.
Les Misérables is a musical based on the novel written by French poet and novelist Victor Hugo. The story is set in the early 1800’s and follows the life of French peasant Jean Valjean, who has been imprisoned for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child. Following his release, Valjean breaks his parole to start life anew under a different identity, but is relentlessly pursued by the ruthless police inspector, Javert. Against the backdrop of the revolutionary period in France, the endearing characters of Les Mis portray the quest for peace and tranquility amidst a world of strife and change.
“We have had the privilege of working with a tremendously talented cast,” commented Director Carl Mercier. “Their dedication to a demanding rehearsal schedule has really shown and is sure to leave a memorable mark on our audiences. We are ready and anxious to perform for our many supporters.”
The show has generated tremendous community support through a number of individual and corporate sponsorships which will off-set performance costs, allowing ticket proceeds to benefit three local beneficiaries –
Day Kimball Healthcare, Quinebaug Valley Community College and The Bradley Playhouse.
David T. Panteleakos, Co-Executive Producer of Les Mis, created Broadway Live Productions, LLC in 2000 to provide an outlet for creative musical production endeavors that would benefit charitable causes. Since inception, Broadway Live has raised over $600,000 in gross ticket sales with all net proceeds benefiting 501(c)(3) non-profit charities. In 2013, Panteleakos and business partner James D. Kellaway created THOMASDORAN and company in order to include digital media production services.
“Broadway Live Productions and THOMAS DORAN and company are pleased to present this landmark production in our community and we are appreciative of the tremendous support received through our sponsors,” said Panteleakos.. One of the hallmarks of Broadway Live Productions is the way we honor our sponsors in our promotional materials, advertising, and programs. For certain levels of sponsorship, our ability to create promotional videos provides another way to acknowledge their involvement. It’s a fitting way to bring all the behind-the-scenes support to the stage.”
The performance features over 60 actors from the tri-state area, with lead roles by Richard Monroe as
Jean Valjean; Ray Churchill (Javert), Elaine Crane (Fantine); Kaitlyn Ekstrom as (Cosette); Amanda Vantine (Eponine); Hayden Stearns (Marius); Greg Brock (Thenardier); and Angela Foley (Madame Thenardier).
In addition to Co-Executive Producers Panteleakos and Kellaway, and Director Carl R. Mercier, the Les Misérables production team includes: Assistant Director Carole Hayes, Producer Laura Crosetti, Associate Producer Molly Kellaway, Choreographer Keri Danner, Vocal Director Diane Pollard, Music Director Bob Sloat, Stage Managers Christie Deary and Marie Mongeau; and Costumer Caroline Sloat.
