Jun 27, 2014 by WindhamAreaArts

June 23, 2014, Pomfret, CT . . . Put the top down, take a drive and celebrate summer the classically American way! Join us for an art exhibition featuring all things automotive. Cruisin’ will run from July 26 – Sept. 7. An Opening Reception on Saturday, July 26 from 5-8PM will showcase original automotive-themed artwork plus some special chrome & steel guests, courtesy of the Tri-State Cruisers Club. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and meeting the artists. Before or after the show at Celebrations, take a spin down scenic Route 169 to see the whole array of Tri-State Cruisers Classic Car show, held every Saturday during the summer from 3PM to dark. All are welcome to these free events.
Seventeen artists from New England will be featured during the Cruisin’ Exhibition, working in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylics, photography, pastels, assemblage and charcoal. Participating artists are Brenda Bergen, Jim Boone, Paul Hitchen, Janice Hodge, Michael Klehm, Donna O’Scolaigh Lange, Susan Rosenstone Larrow, Jackie Peterson, James Rose, Michelle Sylvester, Scott Taylor, Stan Tetrault, Regina Thomas, Robert Thomas, Mayann Weinberg, Catherine Willey and Margaret Young.
The Tri-State Cruisers have been meeting for 21 years, the last few at the corner of RTs 169 & 101 on the expansive lawn of Loos & Co. Every meet-up showcases hundreds of beautifully restored classic & antique cars. Each car cruise features a DJ, trophies, giveaways and a 50/50 fundraising raffle. To date, the Tri State Cruisers have raised $110,000 for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, plus they also contribute to other charities such as the Well Wishers of Day Kimball and when need arises in the community.
