Villari’s In Need of Donations For Their Annual Charity Tournament

Mar 13, 2014 by WindhamAreaArts

“Villaris is looking for some generous people to contribute goods and services towards for their annual Charity Tournament Fundraiser. The event includes food tables, silent auction, door prizes, and a bake sale as well as martial arts competition and demonstrations throughout the day. The tournament will be held on March 22, 2014 at UConn’s Hawley Armory. In addition to showcasing the skills and talents of their students; the event strives to teach them the importance of reaching out to the local community. Over the past 10 years, Villari’s has donated more than $25,000 to help local families and organizations in need of financial support.

This year’s proceeds will benefit Serena Liao of Mansfield.

Serena is a 2nd grader at Goodwin Elementary in Storrs. She has a great sense of humor and loves to be independent. Serena enjoys drawing and working on art projects. She lives with her family and has an awesome younger sister Ilene.

Serena has a diagnosis of Juvenile Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS. This is a motor neuron disease which makes her muscles weak. She is unable to walk on her own and sometimes has trouble speaking the words she wants to say.

Their goal is to raise enough to purchase an adjustable table for Serena to work on her art projects and homework. Contributions would be greatly appreciated to help make this year’s fundraiser a success.

Examples of contributions:
• Food and Drink (pizza, donuts, baked goods)
• Silent Auction items – Examples include: gift cards to area restaurants or supermarkets; certificates for auto services (oil changes, detailing); pizza parties, etc
• Raffle Baskets – Examples include: hair care items with free hair cut from a hair stylist; sweets; lawn & garden; kitchen & cooks; sports; games & entertainment

Questions may be directed to Cheryl Roy at 860-429-7716 or email villaris@earthlink.net. Donations can be dropped off after 3pm at Villari’s Martial Arts locations in North Windham or Storrs Center Monday through Friday or they can be contacted to arrange pick up. Contributions should be made by Wednesday, March 19th. Contributors are welcome to submit business cards, flyers, or brochures to be displayed alongside their donation
