~First Friday~ PROGRAM COVER/POSTER 2014 CONTEST
COULD YOU BE THE WINNING ARTIST?
1st Place – $250.00
The First Friday Committee, along with The Putnam Business Association, invites you to participate in the inaugural First Friday Poster Contest!* This year, First Friday has adopted an overarching theme to be explored throughout the season – A Celebration of Cultural Diversity. Each month will focus on a different element of culture, including: music, dance, theatre, architecture, food, and folklore.
At its core, First Friday is an art-based seasonal event. To celebrate and support local art, we are calling out to the many talented artists of the community to submit an original work to be
considered for the First Annual First Friday Poster Contest. Also, the winning art will be reproduced as the cover of the First Friday Program that will have 3500 copies printed and
distributed. Attached BELOW are documents highlighting the facets of culture that will be featured during the monthly First Friday events. The subject of the poster will center on the 2014 First Friday theme – artists are encouraged to use creativity to interpret and explore the theme of culture as it is defined in the documents attached.
Please note: All entrants MUST be in full color and fit into a 16 x 20 poster frame to be considered as an entry for the contest. Portrait orientation (vertical) is also required.
The entries will be displayed during a First Friday Festival. All entries will be available for purchase at a fundraiser / auction with proceeds to benefit the Putnam Arts Council.
Deadline: Please bring your completed piece to The Putnam Business Association, 66 Main St Suite 5, Putnam, CT (above the Shoppers Guide/Turnpike Buyer), on or before March 21, 2014.
If you have any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
*The Putnam Business Association reserves the right to reproduce the winning posters for sale and
distrubution and/or for publicity purposes with the artist’s by-line. The entered posters will become
the property of The Putnam Business Association.
