The Early Childhood Music Program at CSA has returned after a brief hiatus. This popular high quality music provides a musical culture where children and their families can create meaningful musical experiences. Through singing, movement, instrument exploration, games, and creative musical play children and parents experience a great variety of musical styles and genres, while developing sensory awareness, language, motor, cognitive, and social skills. Once a month, there will be a special young children music event (e.g. children’s drumming or xylophone ensemble time).
Two courses are offered on Saturday mornings for 12 sessions beginning September 28:
Music for the Young – for ages 18 months to 3 years old with parent and/or family meets from 10:15-11:00 a.m. Children (and parent) will develop vocal, movement, and rhythmic skills through a repertoire of singing songs, chants, nursery rhymes, instrumental play, movement activities, and singing games. Other family members are welcome to attend. The fee is $135 per family
Music Time – for ages 3 and 4 runs from 11:15-12:00 p.m. This class is designed for children without parental participation to encourage more independent music making, and is based on listening, singing, moving, creating and playing instruments. Musical experiences include vocal exploration, circle games, expressive movement, rhythmic speech and instrument play. The fee is $135 per family
