Willimantic, CT – Windham Arts proudly presents its “Once In A Blue Moon Music Jam” fundraiser to support and promote the Arts, History, Culture and Tourism in northeastern CT. And now with the very generous donation from The Lester E. & Phyllis M. Foster Foundation and David Foster & Shaboo Productions the event is FREE to attend! On Friday, July 31st, three well-known and legendary blues/jazz bands will delight the senses at Jillson Square in downtown historic Willimantic from 6 – 10 p.m. The line up includes: the Johnny Winter Legacy Band featuring James Montgomery with special guest appearance by Texas’ very own Lance Lopez; CT Blues Challenge winners, The Mighty Soul Drivers; and local blues duo, Tuesday Saints.
“We are thrilled to have such a talented line-up appearing right here in our backyard, and we are even more thrilled now that admission is free thanks to our very generous benefactors”, stated Executive Director, Michelle Bourgeois, “David Foster, Shaboo Productions and the Foster Foundation, in honor of his late parents Lester & Phyllis, have taken this event to a whole new level by providing access to the arts for everyone!”
David Foster is a gifted performer and a philanthropist. He is always giving back, especially to his hometown of Willimantic where he still works and resides. David launched many music careers from his successful business at The Shaboo Inn from 1971-1982. He showcased blues greats Johnny Lee Hooker, BB King, and Muddy Waters, and discovered up-and-coming talents including Aerosmith, The Police and Tom Petty. “Being a music lover and caring about this community, I wanted to provide a nice music event for Willimantic and the entire Windham Arts region to enjoy, “ remarked David Foster, Owner of Shaboo Productions.
Admission is FREE!! Please bring a chair or blanket. No large backpacks, bags or outside alcohol will be permitted. There will be beer and non-alcoholic beverages available including Willimantic’s very own Hosmer Mountain Soda, as well as a variety of concessions by Request-a-Chef of Tolland.
